A second televised debate in the U.S. Senate contest will air at 7 tonight. The same five candidates below are invited to the debate hosted by Nexstar Media Group, parent company of The Hill and NewsNation. Its stations in South Carolina include WCBD News 2. The debate will be broadcast from its studio in Mount Pleasant. You can watch on Nexstar stations and TheHill.com. Sen. Darline Graham is expected to be in Washington for what’s supposed to be the last week of work before a month-long recess, which she criticized in last night’s debate: “Who gets a month off from work?”

Questions about the war in Iran and candidates’ general willingness to buck President Donald Trump provided some of the biggest distinctions between Republicans on stage Monday. The televised debate offered voters statewide a chance to hear from the frontrunners. According to the state GOP, five of its nine certified candidates met the debate’s polling criteria.

A judge will decide whether Danny Ford II, a decertified candidate for U.S. Senate, will be included on special GOP primary ballots going forward. In court yesterday, his lawyers argued the state GOP’s new rule, which took effect July 1, violates the state constitution. The judge said he’d issue a ruling soon. This election is already a tight turnaround. Election officials may need to do some serious scrambling.
