Reminder: Early voting for the June 23 runoffs continues today through 5 p.m. For a list of early voting locations by county, click here. Save yourself some time and check. Do not assume that they are the same locations as prior elections. By state law, each county can open up to seven early voting centers, but only one is mandated. Since I’ve heard complaints from Lexington County readers, I will point out that Lexington County is among counties with just one early voting center open, compared to six in adjacent Richland County. (Even my home county of Barnwell has three.) Kudos to Horry and Florence counties, the only two in the state with seven locations open.

South Carolinians under 18 years old can now play pinball legally. No kidding. Whether you knew it or not, it had been illegal since 1959 — 10 years before “Pinball Wizard.” (The Who’s song has been stuck in my head since I posted this article.) Even legislators didn’t know it was illegal.

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the massacre of nine people at Mother Emanuel by a hate-fueled gunman, whose name I won’t repeat. The victims are the people we should remember: the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Cynthia Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lance, the Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, the Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr., Sharonda Coleman-Singleton and Myra Thompson.
