South Carolina regulators are expected to make a decision within six months on whether to approve a utility mega merger valued at $67 billion. The Public Service Commission voted unanimously to adopt a timeline proposed by Florida-based NextEra Energy and Virginia-headquartered Dominion Energy. This decision involves 820,000 customers in South Carolina.

Whether Danny Ford II will be on the Aug. 11 ballot for U.S. Senate may be decided by the state Supreme Court. A judge ordered the state Republican Party to certify his candidacy in time for early voting. The GOP appealed to the state’s high court instead. Meanwhile, the state Election Commission followed the order, which applies only to Ford. He’s on the ballot. But he might not stay.
