Did you celebrate Carolina Day? Sunday marked the 250th anniversary of the Patriots’ first major victory over the Royal Navy as they protected what was then Charles Town. It was a morale booster for the outnumbered and outgunned Americans ahead of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, which we’ll celebrate this coming weekend. If you’re in Columbia, go check out the State Museum’s new exhibit on the 250th, which opened Saturday.

Alan Wilson’s 68.6% share of the 320,000 votes cast was higher than GOP primary runoff wins by Govs. Henry McMaster, Nikki Haley, Mark Sanford and David Beasley.
