Though overshadowed by statewide and federal contests, the intraparty battle in the GOP-dominated state House of Representatives continued between the mainline House Republican Caucus and the renegade House Freedom Caucus in last month’s primary and runoff. (This posted Friday, but I’m guessing many readers missed it over the long holiday weekend.)

As America celebrated its 250th birthday, flag-waving visitors attended the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, gateway to the national park that bears his name. Theodore Roosevelt V said his great-great-grandfather thought U.S. citizenship was not to be treated as an inherited title, but something that required service and responsibility.
